Samuel

Samuel been a part of STEP’s supported employment program since 2018 and has worked on custodial crews at many different locations. He was placed at his current worksite, Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) in December 2018 where he was a part of the evening cleaning crew. With the increased cleaning needs due to the pandemic, Samuel stepped up into a porter position in July 2020, working independently to make sure that all employees have a clean and safe work environment. The staff at DWIHN report that Samuel is very dedicated to his job and has become a part of their team. Transitional Employment Supervisor, Kimberly Johnson, said Samuel’s confidence has grown so much in the last couple of years and it has been a pleasure to be a part of his journey.
