Her journey with STEP first began in 2009 attending the DREAM Program. Soon after this in 2011, Kelly began working in the Southgate Thrift Stores as an Associate. In 2019, we celebrated with Kelly as she interviewed and was hired for a position as a Clerk at the 33rd Judicial District Court in Woodhaven. Her duties included filing tickets and court files, printing tickets and other civil related tasks. Like many, Kelly was laid off due to COVID-19. So, you may ask, where is Kelly now? Kelly is back working at the Dearborn Heights STEP Thrift Store in the position of Retail Sales Clerk! She says the best thing about STEP is learning lots of new skills. She says, “It’s also given me a chance to grow up and move forward with my life.”
