Jewel Ware (D-Detroit) is the Dean of the Wayne County Commission and has passionately served the citizens of Detroit with great distinction and integrity. Vice-Chair Pro Tempore Ware serves on the Special Committee on Senior Citizens & Veterans Affairs, Committee on Government Operations and Committee on Economic Development. Commissioner Ware participates in various volunteer efforts and community initiatives. She also served on numerous boards and commissions including National Black Caucus on Aging, Coalition of Labor Union Women, Mack Alive, the Detroit Branch NAACP, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Substance Use Disorder Oversight Policy Board for the Detroit Wayne Metro Mental Health Authority. Vice-Chair Pro Tempore Jewel Ware earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education & Human Services and her Master of Arts in Guidance & Counseling from the University of Detroit.
