Dr. Iris Taylor, Vice-Chairperson
Dr. Iris Taylor has served the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) system for the past 40 years. Throughout her time there, she has held the roles of staff nurse, manager, educator, chief nursing officer, and since 2002, President. Approximately 10 of those years were spent at Detroit Receiving Hospital, which she helped transform from a primarily emergency care facility to one with numerous specialties. As a lifelong devotee to service, Iris has enjoyed mentoring future nurses and implementing programs that help the people of Detroit. She has volunteered for community organizations and served on several director boards, such as those of Detroit Central City Community Mental Health and the Merrill-Palmer Institute. She is also an adjunct professor at Wayne State University’s College of Nursing and School of Medicine. Iris holds her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and a doctorate in philosophy.
As a memeber of the DWIHN Board of Directors, Dr. Taylor also currently serves as Vice-Chairperson of the Executive Committe, Chairperson of Program Compliance Committee, and Chairperson of the Strategic Planning Committee.
